In order to play its role of overall coordination and as a bridge connecting Internet enterprises and Foping County in Shaanxi Province, as well as promote the landing of relevant Internet poverty alleviation projects, China Federation of Internet Societies (CFIS) organized Internet enterprises to conduct donation, field research and business negotiations in Foping County on April 8, 2019. Led by Ren Xianliang, vice chairman of the Social Construction Committee of the National People's Congress and chairman of CFIS, this research group was constituted by administrators from six Internet enterprises, including Qihoo 360, Fun Factory, Fun Headlines, Meituan, Pinduoduo, and Douyu Live Broadcasting.
The group visited and inspected the poverty alleviation work in Foping County; discussed and exchanged views with the Party committee and government officials of Foping County on Internet poverty alleviation; and held a donation ceremony titled "Internet Enterprises Come to Foping" and an opening ceremony of the training courses for 2019 Meituan Hotel and Homestay employees. The Shanghai Fun Factory Co., Ltd., Qihoo 360 and Fun Headlines donated one million yuan and nearly 500,000 yuans’ worth of children's positioning watches to Foping County.
Ren Xianliang attended and spoke at the discussion, donation ceremony and opening ceremony. He affirmed the development concept of "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" implemented by the Party committee and government in Foping County and the poverty alleviation achievements made by them. He expressed his gratitude to the Internet enterprises that participated in Internet poverty alleviation and poverty alleviation in Foping. The participation demonstrates their patriotism and the sense of social responsibilities.
He hoped that through this inspection and research activity, Internet enterprises could actively participate in Foping’s poverty alleviation work and make contributions to the development of Foping's industrial resources; make full use of their own advantages to constantly create new poverty alleviation models to improve the self-dependent ability of industries in Foping; and focus on the reality of Foping's long-term development with in-depth involvement, precise policy implementation, and multi-level efforts. In addition, Internet enterprises should not only focus on helping people get rid of poverty through the Internet, but also on helping them to get rich through the Internet.
The six Internet enterprises participating in activity said that they would actively participate in Foping’s poverty alleviation work under the guidance of CFIS and make their contributions to the Internet poverty alleviation as well as fulfill their social responsibilities.
Zhao Hui, secretary-general of CFIS, Zhang Yong, deputy secretary-general of CFIS, Bao Yongneng, director of the Cyberspace Administration Office in Shaanxi Province, Wang Jianjun, secretary of Party committee in Hanzhong City, and other provincial, municipal and county leaders and heads of relevant departments participated in the discussion, donation and research activities.
